On February 17th 2018, Derek and I said " I DO!" Click "Read More" in the bottom right corner to see more details from our fairytale wedding day.
We purchased a football and wrote on it with a white paint marker. The garter served as my "something blue."
I loved the elegance and ambiance of having glass, water and candles throughout the room.
We went with a classic vanilla buttercream cake, and it was incredible. Two layers were vanilla cake, and the other two layers were chocolate with a fudge layering. I suggest making sure you have at least one layer of a light cake color such as vanilla, and be sure that that's the layer you cut into. This will help you avoid drawing attention to having food in your mouth in your wedding photos.
Mostly everything in our reception ballroom was white except for our charger plates, napkins, and uplighting. The charger plates were rose gold, and the napkins were silver. The bridal table and cake table were also different and had champagne sequin tablecloths to stand out from the rest of the room.
I originally wanted to have a cascading orchid bouquet, however, I decided against it because of my petite size. I didn't want it to distract from anything as I was walking down the aisle. A small orchid bouquet with an ivory satin wrap is what I ended up going with while my bridesmaids had white calla lily bouquets.
Our bridesmaid dresses were from Vera Wang's White Collection. We chose midnight blue to match our groomsmen.
My dad and I walked down the aisle to "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. It was such a memorable moment that helped separate our ceremony apart from most traditional weddings. Our friends and family members still talk about it today!
My advice would be to ask your seamstress to switch your veil comb out for a metal comb. Veils often come with plastic combs which don't stay in your hair too well. It should cost about $20 to have it switched out.
My headpiece and veil were bought from The White Dress Bridal in South Florida, but it closed down before our wedding. I believe they still have a store in Milwaukee, WI.
My headpiece was such a perfect accessory to help keep my bridal look once I took off my veil after the ceremony.
For the garter toss, Derek placed my Chargers garter on the football we wrote our names and date on and threw the football. Our guests loved it!
